Pants, Shorts & Bloomers
With the AJ Bottoms Pattern as your guide, you'll have a complete wardrobe of bottoms for your little girl or boy in no time at all!
This pattern is designed with a slight dip in the front and a slightly raised back waist to provide excellent coverage over cloth diapers or disposable without excess bulk. In sizes 6 months to 4T, patterns are included for pants, shorts and bloomers. Pants, shorts and bloomers can be sewn with knit fabrics, a combination of knit and woven fabrics or polyester fleece/wool interlock fabrics. In the toddler sizes, cut lines are included for both traditional rise for little ones in undies and higher rise lines for toddlers in diapers.
Supplies necessary to sew this pattern:
• Cotton knits and cotton blend knits and cotton wovens
For Knit or Woven Pants, Shorts or Bloomers:
• Cotton interlock or ribbed knits for waistbands
• 1" Elastic for knit waistbands
• Cotton or cotton blend knits or cotton woven fabric for body/legs
For Fleece Pants:
• Polyester fleece (anti-pill is recommended for waistband and legbands)
Yardage:
• ¾ yard of fabric selected for body/legs of pants
• ½ yard of fabric selected for shorts and bloomers
• ½ yard of coordinating solid or print interlock or ribbed knit or anti-pill fleece for waist and legbands (Note: Thinner jerseys and regular fleece will have less stretch and poorer performance in the waist and legbands.)
